Vermont Artist - Reagh Greenleaf Jr.

Music Bio

Hi Folks, Reagh Greenleaf Jr. here.
I'm a Singer, Bodhrán-player and Percussionist. My specialties are ballads, work songs, sea chanteys, and accompanying Irish Traditional Music.
In 2000, I attended the Tommy Makem International School of Song in County Armagh, Northern Ireland; a ten-day immersion in Irish history, mythology, folklore, song, céilidh, workshops and concerts.
Since then, I've participated in thousands of sessions, concerts and festivals throughout New England, and appeared on several recordings. I performed regularly with Tom Lanigan Band from 2009-2014 in the Rhode Island-Boston Irish music scene.

Currently I manage The County Down, with Dan Brown; and perform with Gypsy Reel, O'hAnleigh, Loose Monkeys and more. See: Bands

I love performing a wide range of material, including:

  • Irish, Scottish, Celtic traditional and contemporary
  • Folk Revival, Roots and World music
  • Country-Folk, Bluegrass, Jam Band
  • Rock, Soul, Hip-Hop, Pop

Other than a couple years of organ lessons as a kid, I absorbed music entirely through the folk process. After my trip to Northern Ireland in 2000, I regularly attended Irish Traditional, Folk and Maritime/Chantey sessions, notably:

  • Press Room Friday night session, Portsmouth, NH
  • Gloucester, MA chantey sessions
  • Green Briar Pub Comhaltas/Irish Monday sessions, Brighton, MA
  • Sessions/campfires on the US Renaissance Faire circuit

I'm grateful for encouragement, pointers and mentorship from:
The Makem Brothers, Spain Brothers, Steve Wehmeyer, Tom Hall, Linn Shulz, Jeff Warner, Bruce MacIntyre (High Pukka Flying Squad!), Dave Hallowell, Pete Hale, Barry Finn, Emery Hutchins, Bill Perry, Chris Vaughan, Christopher Murphy, Aaron Clegg, Renaissance Festival performers, and countless others over the years. You are all a part of this.
